Jed Prater | Sophomore | Somersby, Australia
Jed Prater was a holding force for the Virginia Tech men’s soccer team and helped solidify the central midfield for the Hokies during the 2011 season.
Serving as the team’s captain, Prater played in all 19 games for Tech, with 18 starts, and proved his value by playing more than 1,700 minutes for the season, good for second on the team among field players. He was one of two Hokies named to the all-tournament team at the Hilton Garden Hokie Invitational in September. Junior Robert Alberti joined Prater on that team.
Prater’s only goal of the season came in a 4-3 overtime loss at No. 11 Boston College. The goal was Tech’s second of the game and helped the Hokies erase a 3-1 deficit to force the extra session against the Eagles. The game was one of seven overtime games for the Hokies, who went 1-3-2 in those contests.
Prater also had an assist on Tech’s lone goal in the Hokies’ 2-1 loss at Duke.
