A Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame inductee and a longtime assistant coach at Tech, Sharp follows Jay Hardwick’s more than 35 years of dedicated service. Sharp inherits a young, talented group that was led by rising junior Connor Burgess (Lynchburg, Virginia) during the 2018-19 season. Best of luck to Coach Sharp in his new role and to Coach Hardwick in this new chapter of life. After taking a redshirt year last season, all-time leading scorer for Tech men’s golf, Mark Lawrence Jr. (Richmond, Virginia), returns to action this fall to provide talent and experience to the lineup. Lawrence, who received individual bids to an NCAA regional following both of his previous two seasons of competition, was a semifinalist at the U.S. Amateur in 2017. Daniel Azallion (Hilton Head, South Carolina) is the lone freshman joining the squad this fall. Among other accomplishments, Azallion was the 2018 South Carolina junior champion.
