18 Inside Hokie Sports running backs SEASON PREVIEW 2020 RUNNING BACKS DEPTH CHART (in numerical order) 0 Jalen Holston (5-11, 218, Sr.) 5 Raheem Blackshear (5-9, 192, Fr.) 21 Khalil Herbert (5-9, 205, Gr.) 24 Terius Wheatley (6-0, 190, r-Jr.) 29 Marco Lee (5-11, 225, Jr.) 35 Keshawn King (5-11, 182, So) 38 Nashun Overton (5-6, 157, r-Fr.) 39 Tahj Gary (5-8, 221, r-Fr.) PLAYER TO WATCH Former tailback Deshawn McClease, who paced the Hokies in rushing with 843 yards in 2019, decided to forgo his final season of eligibility and ultimately wasn’t drafted, so he hopes to land on an NFL roster via the free agent route. His departure left an opening at the position, and Tech’s staff certainly expects Keshawn King to be a contender for the job. King is the Hokies’ top returning rusher at tailback, amassing 340 yards and two touchdowns as a true freshman a year ago. His best performance came against Furman when he rushed for 119 yards on 12 carries — his first 100-yard game. Though a tad slight at 182 pounds, King brings exceptional speed and vision, and he possesses the type of big-play capability that the staff has been searching for at the position for the past couple of years. by Jimmy Robertson
