Virginia Tech launches ‘Keep Jumping’ Fund Helping Hokies to Keep Jumping in 2020 and beyond… Virginia Tech Athletics and the Hokie Club recently launched the “ Keep Jumping ” Fund, which has been created to help navigate the financial impact of COVID-19 on Virginia Tech student-athletes, coaches, staff, and associates. While we will face unprecedented financial challenges this year, we know one thing holds true—the strength of Hokie Nation when we all come together to support fellow Hokies. Virginia Tech Athletics is working to navigate a minimum $50 million budget impact, while continuing to provide for the student-athlete experience, which includes several support areas for more than 550 current Hokies. In a typical year, the budget is supplemented in a variety of ways including ACC distribution (TV rights, etc.), ticket sales for football, basketball and baseball, partner sponsorships, and fundraising efforts. “The ‘Keep Jumping’ campaign is vital for our department this year,” Director of Athletics Whit Babcock said. “While we have taken measures to remain fiscally responsible during this time, we still need your support for more than 550 student-athletes who call Blacksburg home. We remain 100% committed to our student-athletes, providing them with the resources they need for success while continuing their education at Virginia Tech.” In addition to scholarship costs, the Department of Athletics and Hokie Club help to provide funding for all 22 varsity sports in areas of academic services and tutoring, athletics training, strength and conditioning, nutrition, health and wellness, and student-athlete development, which helps to prepare our Hokies for life after Virginia Tech. During this time, the Hokie Club is offering 2x priority points for new or additional gifts made to the “Keep Jumping” Fund. This additional priority benefit will be available until Sept. 30, 2020.* Virginia Tech is committed to providing for the complete student-athlete experience, as they continue to represent all of Hokie Nation—and with your help, the department can continue to help Hokies to Keep Jumping in 2020 and beyond. *Gifts to the “Keep Jumping” Fund will be tax-deductible, but do not count toward your 2021 Hokie Scholarship Fund membership or per-seat gift amount.
