inside.hokiesports.com 11 tribulations. He saw me marry the woman who now stands beside me in my grieving. He met so many of the wonderful people who have wrapped their arms around me in an overwhelming way during this past year. He was on the other end of the phone for the many years when I struggled, and he waited long enough until I found my place. In essence, a higher power lent him to me for the perfect amount of time. For five seasons, I have been the “Voice of the Hokies,” and for whatever reason, I feel like I just started. We are poised for so much. I remain excited about Coach Young, and I have been a firm believer all along that Coach Fuente will do transcendent things in Blacksburg. As observers, we have walked through some valleys to get to where we stand now. And our faith in those whom we have chosen as family is about to be rewarded. My faith has been reinforced through your actions of the past months, and I remain grateful to all of you. Whether that be my football crew who helped me through the season, the administration who provided any and all assistance that they could, or all of you who simply put a hand on my shoulder. I feel stronger for the adversity and proud of the way I handled it. I think my dad would have been, too. I suppose we all enter 2020 with different desires and dreams. For me, I eagerly look forward to the anger and sadness subsiding within me and my immediate family and to experiencing the joys of the New Year with you all—my extended family. Happy Hokie New Year!
