WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY ATHLETE OF THE YEAR SARA FREIX (Jr.; Centreville, Virginia) ACC: FIFTH • For the third consecutive season, the women’s cross country team finished fifth or better at the ACC Championships. • Sara Freix and Lauren Berman, one of three seniors on the squad, led the Hokies this season, with both earning All- ACC honors for the first time in their careers. Freix came in 13th at the ACC Championships, while Berman finished 17th. • Freix, Berman, Rachel Pocratsky and Ellie Brush all recorded their best career finishes at an ACC Cross Country C h a m p i o n s h i p s . Pocratsky, also a senior, came in 49th, while Brush was 72nd. • FreixearnedAll-Southeast Region honors following her eighth-place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional meet. The junior from Centreville, Virginia registered four top-15 finishes this season. • Two Tech runners won meets this past fall, with Sarah Edwards taking the title at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invite and Emily Schiesl winning both the Hokie Invite and the Hokie Open.
