26 Inside Hokie Sports • The Hokies recorded two top-five finishes this past season,cominginfourthattheFurmanIntercollegiate and fifth at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, while shooting a season-best 19-under-par at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. • Tech’s lineup featured just one senior—Joey Jordan—while another senior, Mark Lawrence Jr., took a redshirt season and returns this fall. The rest of the Hokies’ lineup this past season was comprised of mostly freshmen and sophomores. • Connor Burgess, a sophomore from Lynchburg, Virginia, paced the Hokies this season, recording a team-best six top-20 finishes out of 11 events and leading the squad with a scoring average of 71.8. • Burgess tied for ninth place at the ACC Men’s Golf Championship, which stood as the Hokies’ best performance of the tournament. He shot 5-under- par for the tournament, firing three rounds of under- par golf, and he finished just eight shots back of medalist John Pak of Florida State. • Connor Johnson and Slade Pickering both had the low rounds of the season for Tech, as both shot 66 in the same tournament. Johnson shot a 66 in the first round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, while Pickering shot the same score in the second round.
