28 Inside Hokie Sports • The Hokies made their third consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the Sweet 16. Tech, which received a first-round bye, beat Charlotte 1-0 in the second round before falling to James Madison 3-0 in the round of 16. • Tech scored 37 goals this past fall, a total that was the second- most of any ACC team and 20th nationally. • Tech placed two players on the All-ACC team, with forward Kristo Strickler earning a spot on the second team and goalkeeper Mathijs Swaneveld earning a spot on the third team. • Strickler led the Hokies with 10 goals (tied for fourth in the ACC) and 24 points (fifth in the ACC) this past season. He also recorded a team-best four game-winning goals (tied for third in the ACC), including his goal against Charlotte in the NCAA Tournament. • Swaneveld played every minute in goal for the Hokies during the season and finished with 95 saves (1.22 goals against average). Swaneveld’s 95 saves and 4.52 saves per game led the ACC.
