inside.hokiesports.com 29 • Tech made its 10th NCAA Champion ship appearance this past season, advancing to the Sweet 16 for the fifth time in program history, and the Hokies finished the year ranked in the top 25 of both the United Soccer Coaches and TopDrawerSoccer final national polls. • The program has won at least 10 matches in seven of head coach Chugger Adair’s eight seasons at the helm. • The Hokies’ 1-0 win over then-No. 6 Virginia on Sept. 27 marked their first over a ranked opponent since 2015 and their first over a top-10 team since 2013. • Mandy McGlynn earned first-team All- ACC recognition, becoming just the fourth player in program history to be named to the league’s first team—and the first goalkeeper. She played every minute in goal for Tech, finishing with 90 saves and a 1.01 goals against average. Her 90 saves ranked second in the ACC. • Kelsey Irwin earned a spot on the All- ACC third team, becoming just the second Tech defender in program history to make the all-league team. She was the only Tech field player to play every minute this season. • Emily Gray earned a spot on the All- ACC Freshman Team after a year in which she scored two goals and had a team-best six assists. • Karlie Johnson led the team with six goals and tied with Jordan Hemmen with three game-winning goals.
