ACC: EIGHTH • The Hokies came in eighth place in the team competition at the ACC Championships, and the program still has finished no worse than eighth at the ACC meet since joining the league for the 2004-05 season. • Reka Gyorgy came in fourth in the 500-yard freestyle event at the ACC Championships with a time that ranked as the third-best in school history in the event (4:41.51). • Joelle Vereb came in fourth in the 100 freestyle and sixth in the 100 butterfly at the ACC Championships. Her time of 48.50 seconds in the 100 freestyle moved her into second place on the Hokies’ all-time list for the event. • Gyorgy and Vereb qualified for the NCAA Championships in three separate events. Gyorgy earned spots in the 500 freestyle, the 400 individual medley and the 200 backstroke, while Vereb qualified in the 200 IM, 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle events. Ashlynn Peters was the lone other Hokie to qualify for the NCAA Championships, as she earned a spot in all three diving events (1-meter, 3-meter and platform). • Gyorgy was the lone Hokie to earn All-America honors among the three qualifiers, taking honorable mention honors after a 12th-place finish in the 400 IM.
