Tech started three sophomores and two freshman in its six lineup spots for much of the season. • The Hokies beat Clemson 4-3 in the first round of the ACC Women’s Tennis Championship behind singles wins from Samantha Gillas, Elizabet Danailova, Nina Sorkin and Rita Pinto. Tech has won at least one match at the ACC Championship in each of the past two years. • Junior Natalie Novotna earned third-team All-ACC honors—her third appearance on an All-ACC team during her career. Novotna won 18 matches this season, including eight in the No. 1 spot in the lineup. • Novotna beat two ranked opponents this season, upsetting Florida State’s Carla Touly 6-4, 6-1 and knocking off Wake Forest’s Emma Davis 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. Touly was ranked No. 32 at the time, while Davis checked in at No. 31. • Gillas, a freshman from New Braunfels, Texas, went 15- 10 in her debut season and tied Nika Kozar for the most conference wins on the team (five). She played mostly out of the No. 3 and No. 4 spots in the lineup.
