The center will be used to provide meals for Tech’s student-athletes, while also serving as a space for pregame basketball events for donors. Athletics department officials plan for the center to be completed in the fall of 2020. • Work is expected to begin on a $5 million renovation of the football weight room shortly after the upcoming season ends. The project expands the footprint of the room, allowing for the inclusion of additional racks, five offices, and a new speed area. Athletics department officials are working around the football team’s training and practice schedules and thus haven’t set a firm target date for completion. • Later this summer, athletics department officials want to start construction on a $4 million expansion of the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center. The plans call for a new entrance to the facility, new locker rooms for both the men’s and women’s tennis teams, new team rooms, new coaches offices, a new sports medicine training room, and new areas for equipment storage/laundry. Like with the football weight room project, athletics department officials are working around both teams’ practice and game schedules and haven’t set a firm target date for completion.
