The Hokie Club staff is committed to securing the resources needed for student-athletes to receive a lasting educational and athletics experience, while also contributing to the financial sustainability of the Virginia Tech Athletics Department. The Need TheVirginiaTechAthleticsDepartment is completely self-sustaining and relies on the generous support of donors. Administrators, coaches and support staff are committed to supporting each of Virginia Tech’s approximately 550 student-athletes to the highest degree and providing them with the needed resources to succeed. The majority of the gifts to the Hokie Club fund the total annual per student-athlete cost of excellence, including tuition and fees, room and board, books, and cost of attendance. Priorities of the Hokie Club • Cover scholarship costs for all Virginia Tech student-athletes receiving scholarship aid • Endowed scholarships, which provide a stream of financial support to a scholarship • Capital gifts to facilities, such as the Student- Athlete Performance Center, the football weight room and the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center • Planned gifts, which leave a lasting legacy on Virginia Tech Athletics Continued on page 44
