Q: The Hokie Nation is real because … A: Of the camaraderie we’ve seen throughout our travels. Regardless of where we have been, whether domestically or internationally, Hokies always greet each other with a friendly, “Go Hokies.” Hokies are always proud to tell us of their connection to Virginia Tech. Q: How did you become a fan of Virginia Tech? A: We’ve been fans since we arrived in Blacksburg in the early 1970’s. Q: Describe a perfect day in Blacksburg. A: Setting up our family tailgate and having friends coming by to share stories. Q: What motivates you to give back to Virginia Tech Athletics? A: The student-athletes work extremely hard to maintain their academic status, as well as represent Virginia Tech on the playing field. They deserve all the support Hokie Nation can give them. Q: My favorite Virginia Tech moment is … A: Going to the Texas A&M football game in September 2002 and experiencing the Hokies’ 13-3 win over the Aggies, which was the Aggies’ first home defeat to a nonconference foe in a decade. Q: Do you have any gameday superstitions or traditions? A: We are always in our seats for the national anthem and don’t leave a game or match until the clock is at 0:00. Q: How did you get involved with the Hokie Club? A: We got involved in the Hokie Club when the women’s basketball team went 28-3 during the 1998-99 season. Then, that fall Michael Vick and the football team went 11-1. What a year to be a Hokie! Q: My favorite VT student-athlete is … A: Porschia Hadley [formerly] of the women’s basketball team. She exemplifies what it means to be a Hokie.
