The season ended with a tough 2-1 loss to Stanford when the Cardinal scored in the 80th minute. • James Kasak became just the seventh player in program history to be selected in the Major League Soccer Draft when Sporting Kansas City chose him with the sixth pick of the fourth round. Kasak, who started 39 games in his career and had six goals and 13 assists, became the fourth player to be selected in Brizendine’s tenure. • Kristo Strickler earned second-team All-ACC honors for the second consecutive year, while Daniel Pereira earned a spot on the ACC All-Freshman Team. • Strickler led the Hokies and finished sixth in the ACC with 11 goals in 2019. His 25 points (11 goals, three assists) ranked seventh in the ACC. • Pereira finished second on the team in assists (five) and points (15). • The Hokies lose six seniors off this past year’s squad, but Strickler, Pereira, Jacob Labovitz (five goals, two assists) and goalkeeper Mathijs Swaneveld (68 saves, three shutouts) all return, forming a strong nucleus for the 2020 squad.
