The championshipmarked the program’s third ACC indoor title and sixth ACC team title overall. • Dave Cianelli, the Virginia Tech director of track and field and cross country, was named the ACC Women’s Indoor Coach of the Year for the third time and earned an ACC Coach of the Year honor for the 14th time in his career. • Six different female track and field athletes earned All-America honors from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association—Sarah Edwards (mile, DMR), Rachel Baxter (pole vault), Caitlan Tate (400), Lindsey Butler (DMR), Sara Freix (DMR), and Arlicia Bush (DMR). • Tate enjoyed an incredible season for the Hokies, winning gold medals in the 400 and the 4x400 at the ACC Indoor Championships and a silver medal in the 200. She also set three indoor school records this season (200, 300, and 400). • Freix broke the school record in the 5,000 this season with a new time of 15:52.18, smashing the previous record of 16:16.13 held by Sarah Rapp. She also just missed a school record in the 3,000 by a little more than three seconds. • For the second consecutive indoor season, Edwards (mile) and Baxter (pole vault) won gold medals at the ACC Indoor Championships in their respective events. Baxter broke her own school record in the pole vault this season as well (4.53 meters; 14 feet, 10.25 inches), and that vault wound up as the second- best in the nation.
