Inside HOKIE SPORTS | Vol. 12 No. 6 | June 2020

HOKIE NATION, I first want to extend my deepest well-wishes to you and your family during these times. Your unwavering support of our Virginia Tech student-athletes has shown, and we could not be more appreciative. This year, you have helped us to raise close to $33 million for the Hokie Club, including more than $15 million going to the Hokie Scholarship Fund, which pays for tuition, books, fees, and meal plans for our student-athletes. As we look ahead with uncertainty about the upcoming seasons and academic year, your membership in the Hokie Club is just as vital as ever, as we continue toward our goals of winning championships and providing the most positive experience to our student-athletes! This year, we continued toward the goal we set in 2016—to increase our Hokie Club membership to 25,000 with our “Drive for 25” campaign—and with the 2020-21 membership up by almost 10%, we’re well on our way. Your membership in the Hokie Club and subsequent contribution enables us to bring the most talented student-athletes to our campus, which is crucial toward moving our sports to elite levels. You benefit, too, as Hokie Club members receive both ticketing and parking privileges that are based on both loyalty and generosity. To those of you who have purchased tickets for the upcoming football season, we thank you. Our ticket revenue comprises a large percentage of our operating budget. We use those funds to help pay for coaches and administration salary, health and wellness resources for our sport programs, and for the operating budgets of our sports, providing what our coaching staffs and student-athletes need to compete on a conference-wide and national scale. As we look ahead, both to 2021 and beyond, our goals as an athletics department remain uncompromising—to win championships and to provide the most positive student-athlete experience possible. Your ongoing support is critical in helping us to continue to Reach for Excellence . Thank you again, and “Go Hokies!” Whit Babcock a letter from whit babcock (540) 231-6618 • hokieclub@vt.edu • hokieclub • hokieclub • @HokieClub
