He also earned second-team All-America honors that season, finishing ninth in the 5,000. The outdoor season represents his final one at Tech—though he has another cross country season and indoor track season remaining. He plans to return to Tech in the fall and compete for the Hokies, while taking classes probably in his major, finance. Then he’ll decide about his future. He spent this past summer working as an intern for Cowen, Inc. in New York City, learning about trading, sales, consulting and research. But the competitor in him isn’t quite ready to give up running. “It’s just kind of going with the flow and seeing what happens over the next few months into next year,” Seufer said. “I’m going to put a lot more focus into summer training. Right now, the plan is to hopefully be in a position after indoor [season] next year, I can take a break and then put all my focus into the Olympic Trials. That would be the first step. Just really jumping all in and seeing how it goes.” Whatever decision he makes ultimately will be the correct one. After all, more than four years ago, he picked Virginia Tech over Virginia—and everything has worked out near perfectly ever since.
