28 Inside Hokie Sports JC pursued his coaching career as an assistant strength & conditioning coach at VT, then 2 years as a football coach at Radford High School (’99-01), followed by being a graduate assistant in VT football (’02- 04). His college coaching career proceeded with eight years at James Madison as D-line coach & defensive run-game coordinator and nine years at Marshall as D-tackle coach & co-defensive coordinator. JC and wife, Jen (also a Hokie athlete-alum), have two teenage daughters and live in Blacksburg! With the addition of JC Price, there are now seven former VT football alumni serving in full-time roles on Coach Fuente’s football staff, including: Assistant Coach Justin Hamilton —VT ’06 (defensive coordinator & safeties coach), Assistant Coach Jack Tyler —VT ’13 (linebackers coach); Assistant Coach JC Price —VT ’96 (D-line coach); Pierson Prioleau —VT ’99 (director of player development—defense); Corey Fuller —VT ’13 (assistant director of player personnel); Jeron Gouveia-Winslow —VT ’13 (assistant director of player personnel); and Ryan Shuman —VT ’09 (director of football strength & conditioning). The Monogram Club and football alumni look to Coach Fuente and his staff ’s collective efforts with continued excellence of Virginia Tech football, as well as their assistance in connecting all current and past Hokie football alumni and staff! And all of this isn’t even looking at the success Hokie student- athletes are having on campus right now. Now, with the recent release of the 2021 football schedule and the world making significant strides in managing the pandemic, we share an optimistic outlook. One where Hokie Nation might be able to experience the fall from Lane Stadium as we hear Enter Sandman and witness our beloved Hokies take the field! Samm is “making things happen” as to enhanced interaction and engagement with football alumni ! Their message— “Greetings from head coach Justin Fuente and Samm Stewart from the Office of Player Engagement! In an effort to better communicate with our Virginia Tech football alumni, we’re asking that you take a moment to provide us with your current contact and personal information so we can stay in touch.” Yes, the initial step is for all football alumni to respond to a contact survey to enhance program communications directly with football alumni. Look for it and get engaged . Next on their agenda are virtual on-line meetings with presentation by football coaches and staff and Coach Fuente. WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ALUMNA The Monogram Club welcomes basketballer Jen Root Price (’95) back to Blacksburg as of February 2021! Jen Root was a standout member of Women’s Basketball teams in 1991-95, all in the Metro Conference under Coach Carol Alfano . Jenny continues to be VT’s fifth all-time leading scorer (1,582 pts in 117 games); second all-time in FG percentage; third in career rebounds; and was on teams with an overall winning percentage of ~65% (76 wins in 117 games). She was Metro Conference Player of Year in ’95 and was on Metro’s All-Conference teams in ’93, ’94 & ’95. Jenny was inducted into the VT Hall of Fame in 2005. She and husband, newly hired football Coach JC Price , have two teenage children. Welcome back to Blacksburg to Jen Root Price as a town resident, sport alumna and Hokie Fan!
