10 Inside Hokie Sports RECENTLY COMPLETED Through your generosity we recently completed the renovations to our team meeting space and the weight room. The $4.5 million renovation project more than doubled our functional workout space, increasing the total square footage from 6,900 to over 12,300. Additionally, we were able to add a nutrition oasis dedicated to football where our Hokies can easily refuel after training and practice. In addition to the weight room expansion, we renovated the team meeting spaces. These nine position rooms are all equipped with fully- CAPITAL NEEDS Champions are made in the off-season, and with the weight room expansion and meeting room renovations completed, we can now turn our sights toward additional capital enhancements to reach that goal. Several areas are in need of enhancement, including: • Players Lounge: This space is used by our team daily and is beginning to show signs of wear and tear in the furniture and fixtures. Ideally, this space would be renovated to match the branding updates that have been made to the football team spaces over the past few years. • Team Locker Room: Another space that is utilized by our team daily and therefore showing signs of wear. In addition to a modernization of the aesthetics, this area is also in need of a major update to the hot and FOOTBALL ENHANCEMENT FUND BUILDING THE COMPLETE STUDENT- ATHLETE cold tub space. This area allows our players to recover after practices and games. • Office space: With the planned addition of new staff, there will also be a need to increase office space to house our new personnel. • Technology: Giving our student-athletes access to greater technology will benefit them both on and off the field. Additional iPads will allow for greater learning opportunities, while GPS heart rate monitors will enable the medical staff to gauge the health and well-being of our players as they go about their days in practice and out. integrated audio/visual equipment that allows our groups to watch presentations simultaneously. Updated furniture and graphics complete the comfort and aesthetics of our new space and blends seamlessly into the Merryman renovations that were previously completed. The goals of Virginia Tech football are the same as the rest of Hokie Nation—coastal titles, ACC titles, bowl wins, and playoff berths. None of this happens without you and together we can achieve our shared goals and aspirations.
