THE NEW CASSELL Cassell Coliseum has welcomed Hokie Nation as the front door to Virginia Tech Athletics since its opening in 1962 and is an important hub of both daily and gameday activity here in Blacksburg. The time has come to look at modernizing Cassell, enhancing the gameday environment for fans and athletes alike while preserving the personality and brand of the building for future generations of Hokies. Overall a renovation to Cassell would feature an expanded main concourse and a brand new upper concourse placed behind the iconic structural arches of Cassell. This dramatic transformation will be set behind glass, allowing for three-sided visibility into the building and highlighting the activity and atmosphere within. The addition of a student club area on the north exterior of the building will give the Cassell Guard and our student supporters a dedicated space to gather before events. Alongside this student zone will be a new Hokie Sport Shop that will be accessible from outside of Cassell, allowing it to serve the public year-round. inside.hokiesports.com 17 Continued on next page
