26 Inside Hokie Sports PREFERRED EYECARE OF Visit Us at 1440 South Main Street, Blacksburg, Va. 540-953-2020 • WWW.BLACKSBURGEYE.COM More than 570 of Virginia Tech’s student- athletes benefit from the resources provided by the athletic department, and many of them receive direct scholarship support which provides the opportunity to attend college in Blacksburg. Our department spent more than $17 million in tuition, books, room and board, fees, and cost of attendance during the 2019-20 academic year in order to provide a complete student-athlete experience for our Hokies. Those costs continue to increase, and as part of Reach for Excellence, we are seeking additional endowments—gifts or pledges of $100,000 or more—that are invested and provide a steady annual stream of funds to cover the cost of scholarships. These endowments will allow us to continue making positive transformations in the lives of our student-athletes. To discuss giving opportunities for scholarship endowments or any other Reach for Excellence, initiatives, please contact a major gifts office or reach out to the Hokie Club via phone or email.
