Saunders said: “I have been honored to serve the Club as president in 2015-19 and look forward to continuing to serve as past president as of April 2019. To past letterwinners in all sports since the early 1900s, the Club’s biggest challenge is complete and proper identification of all past letterwinners in each current (and past) sport, and he urges those with lists of letterwinners in their years in sport at Virginia Tech to send in these documented lists, so we can begin the process of recognizing ALL past letterwinners in sports at Virginia Tech! To all football letterwinners and teammates on all past teams, our collective challenge is to positively support Virginia Tech Athletics, our football program and our 1,600-plus teammates! As Bear Bryant once said: ‘Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself.’ Go HOKIES! WIN!” SPIRIT SQUAD UPDATE Being a Monogram Club member offers many benefits, and the club invites all spirit squad alumni letterwinners to join today with a $75 dues membership, which entitles paid members to unique experiences and typically complimentary food and beverage at the tailgates. A portion of the dues goes directly to support the spirit squad. There is also a communications-only option, which is free. To learn more about Monogram Club membership and to enroll, go to http://monogram. hokiesports.com/. We encourage you to invite your teammates to join as well. The Virginia Tech Monogram Club welcomed senior athletes from cheerleading, HighTechs, and HokieBirds at a pizza graduation in May 2018. Learning all about the benefits of the Monogram Club and sharing stories with former alumni squads, these spirit members are anxious to enjoy the communication with all Virginia Tech athletes at reunions, special events, ‘back-on-the-field’ tunnel experiences, tailgates, and getting to know former athletes who cheered or danced at Virginia Tech. Spirit squad members will hold a reunion every other year at the homecoming game, so mark your calendars now to plan a trip to Blacksburg in 2019. For questions regarding the club, call 540-231-6070, or email vtmonogramclub@vt.edu . The Monogram Club director for the spirit squad is Nancy Brittle, and she can be reached at nbrittle@vt.edu regarding any suggestions or ideas for upcoming events or reunions. Other than biennial reunions, we would like to have additional events, perhaps by decades, or by High Techs/Cheerleaders/HokieBird-only events, so please send us your ideas!
