inside.hokiesports.com 33 • 1999 TeamReunion —The 20th reunion of the 1999 team was held at halftime of the Friday night game against Duke on Sept. 27. The players held a reunion and football alumni tailgate in Lot 5 in which there were more than 60 former players and their guests/family in attendance (no tall tales were told during this time!). The 1999 team players were invited on the field for pregame warm-ups, as well as being honored during the halftime show with a special highlight video and on-field recognition. All football alumni are looking forward to helping Hokie Nation and the Lunch Pail Defense, past and present, celebrate the achievements of Hall of Fame defensive coordinator Bud Foster during the Wake Forest game on Nov. 9. For more information, contact Chad Beasley at beasleychad@yahoo.com . SWIMMING AND DIVING The H 2 Okies are having an alumni reunion the weekend of Nov. 8-9. The event coincides with a home swim meet against Queens University and the University of Richmond at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center on Nov. 8 at 4 p.m. On Nov. 9, the Virginia Tech football team plays Wake Forest, and the Virginia Tech swimming and diving staff will play host to a Swim/Dive Alumni Tailgate before the game, which will be a great way to gather together as a group. This should be a great weekend to watch, support and cheer on your swimmers, divers, and the football team—all at the same time! For more information, contact jschmidt01@cebridge.net. WOMEN’S BASKETBALL The women’s basketball program will play host to a VT Alumni Weekend in 2020 in Blacksburg during the coming season, probably around January/February. Stay tuned for more information on the schedule of activities. For more information, contact Michelle Houseright at michellehouseright@icloud.com and Tim Clark at clarktr1@vt.edu. FALL BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING The Monogram Club Board of Directors consists of 22 members, including sport directors for all varsity sports, plus five officers. On Aug. 3, the Board met on campus to formulate strategy and vision for the upcoming year and beyond. As the Club continues to grow, the Board meets to decide how to best provide opportunities for alumni to connect with current programs and their former teammates in Blacksburg. Additionally, the Club aligns itself with the athletics department and Hokie Club. Some of the main initiatives resulting from the August meeting included: • Working with coaching staffs to provide reunion and engagement events throughout the upcoming year • Increasing benefits to Monogram Club members • Identifying and obtaining space for pre- and post-event gatherings (such as football tailgating) • Improving football ticket options for members • Club growth projections and goals As an organization, the Club seeks to provide increased ways for former student-athlete engagement and fellowship with one another and the current programs. The desire is to engage all former student- athletes by providing experiences on campus and elsewhere that serve as a reminder of why “This is Home.” To enjoy the benefits of MonogramClub membership, join online at http://monogram.hokiesports.com.
