Five Virginia Tech divers have qualified for the Olympic Trials held next June in Seattle with the hope of making the U.S. Olympic team and participating in the London Olympics next summer.

Logan Shinholser, Ryan Hawkins, Kelli Stockton, Logan Kline and Kaylea Arnett all qualified after their performances at the AT&T National Diving Championships held at the UCLA Spieker Aquatic Center in June.

Shinholser finished fifth in the platform event and ninth in the 3-meter event. He and Hawkins came in third in the synchronized platform event and 10th in the synchronized 3-meter platform event.

Stockton, a freshman, placed 11th in the platform, while Kline finished third in both the synchronized 3-meter and platform events.

Arnett, also a freshman, had qualified in the 3-meter event at another meet.

The Virginia Tech diving squad will participate in the USA Winter Nationals in December, an event that will give the program a chance to qualify more divers for the Olympic Trials on June 19-24, 2012.
